Bible Verse for February 9th.

But don't just listen to God's Word. You must do what it says. Otherwise, you are only fooling yourselves. 

 

James 1:22

This verse reminds us that we must be doers of God's Word. It's simply not enough to read or listen to it. His Word is our road map for living and we must apply it to our lives. It gives us specific and detailed guidelines for living in a manner that's pleasing to Him and if we cannot adhere to it, then we are only fooling ourselves. 

As His children, our lives must reflect what His Word says. We are to be kind, caring, compassionate, self controlled, patient and loving. It also reminds us to be respectful, to refrain from slander and gossip, to have a servant's heart and above all to love God with all our heart, soul and mind. There is much more we are told to do in His Word, but sadly it's disregarded by many who merely read and listen to it. We must be cognizant of the fact that we are being watched by our loved ones, colleagues, peers and friends and our lives must be living testimonies. We must be doers of God's Word.

Thank you Lord for Your Word. Help me to not only read or listen to Your Word, but may I apply it to my daily life. Let it impact my thoughts, words and actions. I love you, Jesus. Amen!
