This verse urges us to always speak the truth in love. Whether we are sharing the Good News of Jesus or telling someone about a negative behaviour, it must be done in love and humility without compromising the truth, but never in a self-righteous or 'holier than thou' attitude. Our sole purpose should be to uplift, edify, encourage, restore and implement change and never with the intent to ridicule, embarrass or belittle. A person should never feel beaten up, deflated or disrespected as a result of what we say.

It is important to speak the truth. As parents, spouses, friends, siblings, leaders and colleagues, we have a responsibility to be truthful, as long as it is done with the utmost respect and love. In many instances, it is never easy to speak or hear the truth, but love makes it easier for both parties. We cannot see the ones we care about making wrong decisions or engaging in destructive behaviour and be silent. Change will take place as we look to God for guidance, wisdom and direction. People will be drawn into a relationship with Jesus, attitudes and behaviour will be impacted and we, as His followers will enter into a deeper and closer walk with Him.

Thank you Lord for Your truth! Help me to always speak the truth in love and humility, to freely share the Good News and to point out the right path to those around me with love and compassion. Draw me close to you, Lord and may I become more and more like you with each passing day. I love you, Jesus. Amen!
