About two weeks ago we all watched in abject horror and dismay as the life of a black man was snuffed out before our very eyes by a white police officer. Someone who took an oath to serve and protect thought nothing of keeping his knee on George Floyd's neck for over eight minutes. He showed sheer indifference and disregard for the life of another. People are justifiably outraged and our hearts are broken and grieved. Only a heartless person would be unaffected by this.
Each one of us is made in the image of God. We are all different...ethnic origin, colour, creed and socio-economic status but nonetheless made in His perfect image. Not one of us is supposed to feel superior to another person. The only thing we are called to do is to love one another as God loves us. This involves treating each other with respect, compassion and dignity. In the eyes of Almighty God we are all equal.
Thank you Lord for creating us in Your image. Fill us with love for each other and root out any traces of racism and bigotry. I pray that You will comfort and strengthen the family of George Floyd. I love you, Jesus. Amen!
