Bible Verse for May 31st.

Be very careful, then, how you live, not as unwise-but as wise.

Ephesians 5:15

Growing up, I'm sure we were all told by our parents to be careful and avoid risky behaviour. As followers of God, this verse cautions us to live carefully and wisely. There are many things we do that aren't inherently wrong, but they ultimately leave us wanting to do more and this sets us on a slippery slope that compromises our beliefs and values. Sooner or later, it seems that we're living on the edge being a part of things that are contrary to the Word of God.

The Bible gives us a clear guide for being wise and for living pleasing and acceptable lives for God. We are to worship, fear, honour and obey Him. This must be evident in all we say and do and we need to make every effort to be pure and holy. It involves daily consecration of our lives to God, spending time in His Word and in prayer. We cannot allow the world, declining moral values or the fear of being ostracized to affect how we live for God. It is incumbent upon each of us to live pleasing and honourable lives for God.

Thank you Lord for loving me. Help me to live carefully, to make wise decisions and to love, honour and serve you all the days of my life. I love you, Jesus. Amen!
