It's quite sad, but there are some people who thrive in the midst of strife. Somehow, they seemingly derive pleasure from gossiping, undermining others and sowing seeds of discord whenever they can. Gossip usually leads to strife. It causes pain and wreaks havoc on relationships, yet so many seem unable to refrain from engaging in it. They readily share confidences and seem jealous of the accomplishments of others, and so, they resort to spreading rumours and speaking ill of everyone.
We are to avoid this behaviour altogether. This means we don't gossip about anyone and we don't listen when others do it. We need to heed that inner voice within us and allow the Holy Spirit to guide us. When we're tempted, we must choose instead to praise, encourage and edify. If we focus on building healthy relationships, we can avoid strife and discord.
Thank you Lord for Your wisdom. Help me to never engage in gossip or do anything to create strife and discord. I love you, Jesus. Amen!
