Bible Verses for May 2nd.

"But they all began making excuses. One said, I have bought a field and must inspect it. Please excuse me."

Luke 14:18
NLT Bible

Jesus was telling a parable about a man who invited many of his friends to a great feast. As was the custom, when everything was ready, his servant went out to remind them. However, excuses began to surface. In this verse, one man bought a field that had to be inspected. Another bought oxen that needed checking and one just got married. The parable depicts God and His gift of salvation for us all, but so many times, we make excuses as to why we cannot serve Him.

Excuses are the norm for many. There's an excuse for speeding, not doing errands, homework, chores or not talking to someone. We also have excuses for not serving God....indifference, fatigue, busyness or forgetfulness. Excuses seem to flow smoothly from our lips. We need to 'step up to the plate' and become true and worthy servants of Almighty God.

Thank you Lord for Your free gift of salvation. At times, I've been guilty of making feeble excuses for not doing what You've called me to do. Help me to do my best in every area of my life. I love you, Jesus. Amen!

Be Blessed!
Lydia
