When the crop began to grow and produce grain, the weeds also grew.

Gardeners know that they have to be vigilant in getting rid of the weeds in their gardens. As plants grow and flourish, weeds do the same. They have the uncanny ability to grow closely to plants, burying their roots deep into the soil and sometimes being intertwined with the healthy plants. There must be consistency in pulling out weeds to avoid being overrun with them.
As believers, we need to be introspective and look within ourselves and uproot the weeds of lustful thoughts, envy, bitterness, greed, anger and all other forms of destructive behaviour. If we allow them to grow in our lives, they deplete us of our faith and goodness. To get rid of these destructive weeds, we must nourish ourselves with the Word of God and be consistent in prayer. With God's help,we can keep the weeds at bay.
Thank you Lord for the spirit of discernment. I recognize the weeds of harmful and destructive behaviour in my life and with Your help, I strive to root them out. I pray that nothing will affect my relationship with you. I love you, Jesus. Amen!
