Bible Verse for May 9th.

Physical training is good, but training for godliness is much better, promising benefits in this life and the life to come.

1 Timothy 4:8

Physical exercise is necessary if we want to keep our bodies healthy and fit. Some people are obsessed with physical training and set aside many other activities to exercise and train. This is admirable because it keeps our bodies and minds in optimum condition and we are able to ward off many preventable illnesses. However, even more important than physical exercise is the spiritual regimen that we need to be engaged in.

It takes time to tone and develop our muscles and to achieve the level of fitness we desire and then we have to work daily to maintain it. In the same way, we have to be disciplined and diligent as we work on our spiritual growth. We must study God's Word, be consistent with our prayer life, guard our thoughts and engage in activities that would uplift us and increase our faith. We can only enjoy the benefits of physical training during our time here on earth, but the benefits of our spiritual training last forever.

Thank you Lord for loving me. With Your help, I pray that I will always be diligent to fellowship with you, to study Your Word and to be consistent and disciplined in doing whatever it takes to grow spiritually. I love you, Jesus. Amen!
