Don't repay evil for evil. Don't retaliate with insults when people insult you. Instead, pay them back with a blessing. That is what God has called you to do, and He will bless you for it.

It's so easy to retaliate with an insult when someone is rude, offensive or mean to us. However, we have a choice. We can lash out with another insult, repay their evil deed with one of our own, or we can do what God wants us to do and bless them in return. When we respond in the same way we've been treated, we open the door for a long and destructive 'war' with hurt feelings and ruined relationships.
As children of God, we must react with kindness, and as difficult as it may be, we must bless the other person and wish them well. When we respond like this, we are credible witnesses, showing God's love in a tangible way. Reacting with kindness and forgiveness opens the door for change in others as they try to understand the reason for our behaviour, which is simply having Jesus in our lives. When we bless those who wrong us, God blesses us in return.
Thank you Lord for Your many blessings. Help me to never retaliate with insults or mean deeds, but with love and kindness. Let me bless others when they insult me and may my life be a blessing to you. I love you, Jesus. Amen!
