When people commend themselves, it doesn't count for much. The important thing is for The Lord to commend them.
2 Corinthians 10:18
NLT Bible
All too often we look to people to commend us. In fact, sometimes we even commend ourselves when we've done something noteworthy. While it's encouraging, rewarding and gratifying to be acknowledged for the things we do, the only thing that matters is the approval we get from God. Any good deed should simply be done because we love God and want to serve, honour and obey Him. Our motive should never be for self recognition or approval from anyone.
We may be zealous in our service to God, doing all that we can to serve others, being kind, caring and diligent and sometimes the tendency might be there to applaud ourselves for our good deeds. If that happens, we need to take a step back and reassess our reasons for doing the things we do. God sees our hearts and will reward and commend us when our actions are propelled by love and obedience to Him. His approval is the only one that really matters.
Thank you Lord for Your approval of the things I do. I pray that my motives for every good deed will always be for the purpose of serving others and bringing honour and glory to Your Name. Let it never be for self recognition or praise. I love you, Jesus. Amen!
Be Blessed!
