Jesus called out to them, "Come, follow me, and I will show you how to fish for people!"
Matthew 4:19
NLT Bible
When we make the decision to follow Jesus, we are also called to be witnesses, to share the gospel with those who are lost and in need of a Saviour. All around us, there are so many people who need to be in a relationship with Jesus....our loved ones, friends, neighbours and even strangers and we have a role to play in sharing the Good News of Jesus. When we love someone or even something, we are quick to tell others about it. How much more should we be willing and eager to share the love and saving grace of Jesus.
It's our mandate as believers and it starts by leading exemplary lives, letting the love of God radiate from within us. Then we need to verbalize the compassion and goodness of God to those who need to hear it. We may have to step out of our comfort zone and move beyond the walls of familiarity to share with some people. Our hesitation to fish for people could result in someone being lost forever. Following Jesus means devoting our lives to Him and to the spread of the gospel. We cannot limit ourselves to friendships with fellow believers only if we want to reach the lost for God nor can we afford to give up. As His followers, we each have a role to play in building the kingdom and we have to keep praying, forging friendships, sharing through our words and actions. Jesus has called each one of us to be fishers of men and it's a call we must answer.
Thank you Lord for saving my soul. My desire is to see people come to know you as Saviour and Lord. Let me never pass up an opportunity to tell others about Your saving grace. Take me out of my comfort zone and help me to reach people wherever they may be. I love you, Jesus. Amen!
Be Blessed!
Lydia
