Another year has dawned upon us, presenting itself as a clean slate, one in which we can strive to be the best in all we do. Oftentimes, we spend hours listing our goals and aspirations for the new year, only to fail within a few weeks or months as we slip back into old habits. In this new year, a more practical and attainable goal would be striving to be the best that we can possibly be in every area of our lives. This means doing everything with a spirit of excellence, doing it as unto The Lord.

We should desire to be the best parent, grandparent, spouse, child, employee, friend and mentor that we can be. We will make mistakes, even fail at times, but we need to simply pick ourselves up and persevere on our path to excellence. As believers, we cannot do things halfheartedly and in a mediocre manner. We must aim to excel, to be the best that we can be. It will involve being diligent, caring, sensitive, compassionate, kind and loving. We are being watched and the way we behave and do things should be a testimony to those around us. The past year is behind us and we now have a new opportunity to excel in a brand new year. When we put our heart and soul into every relationship and endeavour, excellence is within our reach with help from Almighty God.

Thank you Lord for allowing me to see another new year. Help me to be the best that I can be in all my relationships and endeavours, to strive for excellence in every area of my life. Lord, let me see each day as an opportunity to excel. I love you, Jesus. Amen!
