"You must love The Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, all your strength, and all your mind. And love your neighbour as yourself."
Luke 10:27
NLT Bible
Oftentimes we are guilty of over analyzing what's expected of us as children of God, but it's quite simple and uncomplicated. We are to love God with every fibre of our being and love our fellow man in the same way we love ourselves. There are many people today who despise and loathe themselves and as a result, cannot love others, When we truly love God, we instinctively love people. They may have issues with their self worth, but can overcome this when they come to terms with the depth of God's love for them.
Love is never passive, but always active. Loving God involves obeying His laws, worshipping, praising and magnifying Him. This love is then evident in our treatment and attitude towards our 'neighbours'. We are kind, caring, compassionate and generous to everyone. Some people are not easy to love, but God's love enables us to treat them with the dignity and respect that everyone deserves. Love should be the catalyst for everything we say and do. Our job is not to be selective about those we should love and care for. We have a mandate to show the love of God in tangible ways to everyone around us. When we do, we are drawn into a deeper and more meaningful relationship with our Heavenly Father. Love draws us closer to God and each other.
Thank you Lord for loving me. Help me to love my neighbour as myself and show it in meaningful and tangible ways, without any judgement or pre-conceived notion. I am nothing without you. I love you, Jesus. Amen!
Be Blessed!
Lydia
