Bible Verse for November 5th.

Therefore, as God's chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience.

Colossians 3:12

We are God's chosen and elect people, holy and dearly loved. This means that we have to live as He wants us to, clothing ourselves in Christlike qualities. We have taken off and put away our old and sinful nature and now strive to be all God wants us to be. We are to be compassionate and sensitive to the needs of those around us, to care about what they are going through and be available to listen and empathize, without being critical or judgemental. Kindness must be a way of life for us and we should look for ways to be kind to those around us, with no thought of reward or recognition.

God has also called us to put on the cloak of humility, treating all people with the respect and dignity they deserve. Gentleness is yet another quality that needs to be embraced. Many times, people equate gentleness with weakness, but a truly gentle person possesses inner strength that's wrapped up in meekness and sensitivity. We all need to be patient, some of us more than others, but it's a quality that we should strive for, learning to be patient with people and situations. These are all godly qualities that we need to embrace and as we deepen our walk with God, we are transformed and become more and more like Him. We are His chosen people and we have to live like it.

Thank you Lord for choosing me and for loving me. Help me to be filled with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience and to let it be evident in my words and my actions. I love you, Jesus. Amen!
