"The Lord doesn't see things the way you see them. People judge by outward appearance, but The Lord looks at the heart."
1 Samuel 16:7
NLT Bible
We may not readily admit it but many of us are prone to judge people by their outward appearance. We may shy away from those we regard as unattractive, poorly dressed and we form our own conclusions before taking the time to really get to know them. Thankfully, God doesn't see things the way we do as He looks at the heart to judge a person's true character. This does not mean that we should neglect our outward appearance, but we must pay attention to what really matters and that is the inner beauty that emanates from someone.
Physical beauty, though pleasing to the eye, does not last forever. The aging process will eventually affect our outward appearance. However, what lasts is who we are on the inside, what's in our hearts, our love, compassion, kindness, gentleness and purity. This is how God sees us and this is how we need to see others. We are all God's children, made in His image. If we are guilty of being superficial and judging others because of how they look, we need to repent and with God's help, begin to recognize and appreciate the inner beauty that is present within each of us.
Thank you Lord for loving me just as I am. You look at my heart, not my physical appearance. Help me Lord, to put aside any preconceived notions I have about people and to see the beauty that lies within them. Forgive me Lord for being so shallow. I love you, Jesus. Amen!
Be Blessed!
