Bible Verse for March 13th.

Then He said to the crowd, " If any of you wants to be My follower, you must turn from your selfish ways, take up your cross and follow me."

Luke 9:23

There's a cost involved in following Jesus. In this verse, He tells us that if we truly want to follow Him, we must be willing to 'die' to ourselves, to our fleshly desires. Are we willing to do it? Following Jesus requires commitment and devotion and it's the most rewarding thing we can do, but it's not an easy road. Each day, we have to come to God and relinquish the things that would hinder our walk with Him. If we truly love Jesus, we must be prepared to give it all up for Him.

We each have different things that need to 'die' within us. It may be an attachment to material things, to people, to certain lifestyles, to bad habits or addictive behaviour. It's recognizing that anything that compromises our life with Jesus must be surrendered to Him. This is ongoing and it's something we must do daily if we desire to be true followers of Almighty God.

Thank you Lord for Your mercies. My desire is to follow and serve You all the days of my life. Lord, with Your help, I give up anything that would hinder me from following You. I love you Jesus. Amen!
