Honour your father and mother. Then you will live a long, full life in the land the Lord your God is giving you.”

Exodus 20:12 NLT Bible

This verse speaks about honouring our parents, but today I’d like to focus on what it means to honour and revere our mothers. On this day, millions of people who are privileged to have their mothers be part of their lives are celebrating them with cards, flowers and gifts. These are all worthy gestures; however, how can we really honour our mothers with the things that matter the most? We have to love her unconditionally, respect her, listen to her, let her know how special she is, care deeply for her, spend ‘quality’ time with her and above all pray for her.

As this verse tells us, when we honour and respect our mothers, we will have long and satisfying lives. Life can be very difficult for mothers as they juggle the demands of everyone and everything around them. In fact, it can be quite overwhelming at times. Mothers aren’t perfect. They make mistakes, but God’s command is still for us to honour them and we can do so both in tangible and intangible ways. Many of us have mothers who are no longer with us, but today we can honour their memory and the love and invaluable lessons they shared with us. On this special day and always, we must endeavour to honour our mothers.

Thank you Lord for mothers everywhere. Let me always love and respect her and make her feel valued and appreciated. Bless her Lord, keep her strong and healthy, watch over her and keep her safe. I love you, Jesus. Amen!

Be Blessed!

Proverbs 31:25-31

25. She is clothed with strength and dignity. She can laugh at the days to come.

26. She speaks with wisdom, and faithful instruction is on her tongue.

27. She watches over the affairs of her household and does not eat the bread of idleness.

28. Her children arise and call her blessed. Her husband also, and he praises her:

29. “Many women do noble things, but you surpass them all.”

30. Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting. But a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised.

31. Honor her for all that her hands have done, and let her works bring her praise at the city gate.

“She is clothed with strength and dignity, and she laughs without fear of the future.

When she speaks, her words are wise, and she gives instructions with kindness.

She carefully watches everything in her household and suffers nothing from laziness.

Her children stand and bless her. Her husband praises her:

“There are many virtuous and capable women in the world, but you surpass them all!”

Charm is deceptive, and beauty does not last; but a woman who fears the Lord will be greatly praised.

Reward her for all she has done. Let her deeds publicly declare her praise.”

Proverbs 31:25-31  NLT Bible

On this very special day, as we remember and celebrate our mothers, we give thanks to God for them and honour them for their undying love and devotion to us. While it’s good to shower them with flowers and gifts on this day, what mothers really covet from their children is their respect, time, concern and caring all through the year. That’s how we can truly honour our mothers!

On this day, we also remember our mothers who are no longer with us and reflect on their virtuous and exemplary lives and cling to the legacy of faith in God and love for family that they left us.

Thank you, Lord, for mothers everywhere! Bless and keep them always! I love You, Jesus!

Be Blessed!

May she who gave you birth be happy.

Proverbs 23:25 NLT Bible

On this special day we pay tribute to mothers everywhere and celebrate the love and sacrifice they've shown over and over again for their children. Today, mothers are being showered with gifts, phone calls, cards, dinners and visits and while these things are greatly appreciated, they are not the things that make a mother truly happy.

Mothers are happy when they know that they are loved, honoured, respected and appreciated by their children. They are overjoyed when their children love, obey and serve God and hold fast to the beliefs they lovingly instilled in them. This day also evokes mixed feelings for many who no longer have their mothers with them, and for others coping with complex and troubled relationships. Whatever it may be, we have a duty to love our mothers and do all we can to ensure that they are happy.

Thank you, Lord, for mothers everywhere. Bless them with strength, wisdom and courage. Help them to bring up their children to love and obey you. I love you, Jesus. Amen!

Be Blessed!

Her children stand and bless her. Her husband praises her. There are many virtuous and capable women in the world, but you surpass them all.

Proverbs 31:28-29 NLT Bible

So many children all over the world are remembering and appreciating their mothers today and there's no greater honour for a mother than having her children stand and bless her for being a virtuous and capable woman. It's a testament to her excellence as a godly mother….......one who spends time in prayer, protects and nurtures her children, recognizes their unique abilities, is sensitive and above all, loves them unconditionally.

How can we truly honour our mothers? Flowers and gifts on this special day are great and appreciated, but what most mothers want from their children is their time, attention, love and respect all year round.  It's seeing them live purpose filled and obedient lives, adhering to all the godly beliefs and values taught to them and having them become all that they are destined to be. In essence, if our mothers really matter to us, we must ensure that we do everything to make them feel valued and loved every day of the year. When we honour and respect our mothers, God has promised us that all will be well with us and that we will have a long life on earth.

On this special day, we also remember our mothers who are no longer with us and we reflect on their virtuous and exemplary lives, and hold fast to the legacy of faith in God and love for family that they left us.

Thank you Lord for my mother. I am so thankful for everything she has done for me. Let me always love and respect her, and make her feel valued and appreciated. Bless her Lord, keep her strong and healthy, watch over her and keep her safe. I love you, Jesus. Amen!

Be Blessed!
