Sometimes we are good at maintaining outward appearances, but we neglect what's really important and that's the condition of our hearts. What's inside of us is what really matters to God. We may portray the perfect image of how we believe a follower of God should act, but sometimes, all it may be is an outward show. We say and do the right things, dress and behave circumspectly, attend church, tithe and be charitable, but these things don't affect us on the inside.
God wants our hearts to be clean and pure. Love, kindness, empathy, compassion and mercy should emanate from us. When this happens, we are changed. We have an inward glow that radiates on the outside. We still do the same things, but they now have meaning because our actions come from hearts filled with God's love. Our focus must always be on what's inside of us. That is what matters to God.
Thank you Lord for saving me. Create a clean and pure heart within me. I pray that what's inside of me will be reflected in my words and actions. I love you, Jesus. Amen!
