And let us run with endurance the race God has set before us. We do this by keeping our eyes fixed on Jesus, the champion who initiates and perfects our faith.
Hebrews 12:1-2
When competing in a marathon, participants need to have perseverance, endurance, stamina and an ability to be focused on completing the course. They cannot allow themselves to be distracted by what is happening around them, but simply have to keep forging ahead until they reach the finish line.
Our walk with God can be compared to this. God has set a race before us and as believers, we are required to run this course with endurance. We cannot let anything prevent us from doing this. Life is not going to be smooth sailing. We will face disappointments and setbacks but we just have to keep pressing on. No matter what we're experiencing we need to keep our eyes fixed on Jesus. When we're focused on Him, it becomes easier to withstand all that life throws at us.
Thank you Lord for always being with me. Help me to run the race You've set for me with endurance and may I always keep my eyes fixed on You. I love you, Jesus. Amen!
