Bible Verse for July 4th.

First wash the inside of the cup and dish, and then the outside will become clean too.

Matthew 23:26

Many of us are adept at keeping up appearances. We do our best to look good on the outside, trying to mask our emotional scars, shortcomings and struggles and hiding everything that's broken on the inside of us. We should not do this as it directly impacts our lives as believers. As this verse tells us, washing the inside of the cup is critical to the usability and cleanliness of it.

We have to be concerned about the condition of our hearts. We cannot look good on the outside and be filled with hatred, pride, jealousy, rage and other undesirable qualities on the inside. We need to surrender our shortcomings to God and allow Him to cleanse and purify us. When this happens, it changes us inwardly and is then reflected outwardly. We radiate God's love, joy, peace, kindness and compassion.

Thank you Lord for loving me. Purify my heart and fill me with Your love and goodness. Remove anything that would hinder my relationship with you. I love you, Jesus. Amen!
