Bible Verse for June 29th.

The man wanted to justify his actions, so he asked Jesus, "And who is my neighbour?"

Luke 10:29
NLT Bible

Jesus was underlying the importance of being good neighbours. However, this man wanted to justify his own actions and asked Jesus to define who was his neighbour. Jesus replied with the well known parable of the Good Samaritan, who tended to the wounds of a Jewish man who was severely beaten and left half dead at the side of the road while two other persons passed by without doing anything. Jesus was illustrating that our neighbour is anyone who needs us, regardless of ethnicity, cultural differences, social status or political affiliation.

Our neighbours are the people of the world. They are diverse and not defined by our personal preferences. Some may live in our neighbourhood, but many of them live beyond the borders of our self-imposed walls and we have an obligation to love and care for them. Our neighbours need us and we cannot sit by idly. We have to open our eyes, interact with them and respond to their needs. This is what God expects of us.

Thank you Lord for loving me. Help me to love and care for others and be sensitive to their needs. Help me to see everyone as my neighbour. I love you, Jesus. Amen!

Be Blessed!
Lydia
