Jesus left us the perfect example of true servanthood. While He lived on earth, He was always engaged in serving others and doing kind and thoughtful things for those around Him. As His followers, this is exactly what we are called to do. Servitude must be at the core of who and what we are and should come naturally to us. We see a need and simply take care of it with no regard for reward or recognition from anyone. It may infringe on our personal time, leave us fatigued and even cost us financially, but the blessings outweigh the sacrifices.
We don't have to search for ways to serve. They are all around us and we should be willing to serve in any way we can. Everyone is worthy of our help, regardless of race, colour or creed. To be genuine servants, we must rid ourselves of indifference, self-absorption and selfishness and serve others as Jesus did. With His help, we can cultivate an attitude of service. In so doing, we lighten the load of others and above all, we honour God.
Thank you Lord for Your servant's heart. Help me to willingly serve others and be of service in anyway I can. I love you, Jesus. Amen!
