Bible Verse for May 18th.

See that no one pays back evil for evil, but always try to do good to each other and to all people.

1 Thessalonians 5:15

At some point in our lives, people will hurt and wrong us. We may be tempted to lash out and retaliate in anger, but this is not what God expects from us. We must never pay back evil for evil, but always try to react with love, mercy and goodness. It's a difficult task, but one we're mandated to do.

There are many things people can do to harm and wrong us and the effects can linger on and cause us pain. However, nothing is gained by repaying that evil action with evil. We cannot get involved in a 'tit for tat' game. We must take the high road, surrender the situation to God, forgive the person who has wronged us, pray for them and move forward with our lives. God has seen the injustice done to us and He will take care of it all.

Thank you Lord for Your mercy and grace. Help me to never try to get even with those who've wronged me. Let me respond with love and sensitivity. I love you, Jesus. Amen!
