Bible Verse for April 20th.

While Paul was waiting for them in Athens, he was deeply troubled by all the idols he saw everywhere in the city.

Acts 17:16
NLT Bible

Paul was deeply troubled by the carved idols he saw everywhere in the city because he knew that the people worshipped them. Today, many of us are also guilty of worshipping idols. We don't worship carved idols, but we can be guilty of idolizing people, things and habits, allowing them to consume our lives and suddenly, God takes a back seat and is no longer a priority in our lives.

Sometimes we are guilty of idolizing our children, spouse or even a friend. They are constantly on our minds to the exclusion of everything else. Anything or anyone that enslaves us and takes us away from our relationship with God is an idol and we need to identify them and with God's help, rid ourselves of the stronghold they have on our lives. If we love God, He must be first in our lives.

Thank you Lord for Your love. You are everything to me and I pray that I will never allow anything or anyone to hinder my relationship with you. I love you, Jesus. Amen!

Be Blessed!
Lydia
