Bible Verse for May 23rd.

Don't be selfish; don't try to impress others. Be humble, thinking of others as better than yourselves.

We all know selfish people, the ones who put themselves on a pedestal, always grabbing the limelight, trying to showcase themselves and impress others. In fact, in some ways, we may sometimes be guilty of this also. We paint a picture of ourselves as accomplished and successful and always seem to be singing our praises, while forgetting the people who've worked alongside us to achieve our goals. God does not want us to be selfish and self-centred, but to be humble and put others above ourselves.

We are all equal in God's sight, so there's no justification in thinking that we are better than anyone else. We need to put the needs and interests of others above our own, to let them know that they are valued and what they do matter. God wants us to love others more than ourselves, to care and to empathize. When we lift others up and refrain from projecting and promoting ourselves, we show what it means to truly love God.

Thank you Lord for teaching me humility. Help me to never think of myself as being better than others or to be always trying to impress with my achievements. Let me lift others up. I love you, Jesus. Amen!
