But You are a tower of refuge to the poor, O Lord, a tower of refuge to the needy in distress. You are a refuge from the storm and a shelter from the heat.

This verse holds such reassuring promises. Our God is our refuge and shelter. We don't have to endure trials and difficult times alone. All we need to do is to rest in the arms of our Heavenly Father. During an actual storm, we're exposed to the elements when heavy rain and gusting winds threaten to destroy us. Likewise in searing heat, we may feel suffocated and oppressed and feel that we can't go on. In our personal lives, when storms and unbearable pressures hit our lives, we can find refuge in a God who cares for us.
Our difficulties may seem insurmountable, it could be a bad medical report or financial woes. We may be in the midst of abusive relationships, dealing with depression and insecurities. Whatever the storm, God is our refuge. In Him, we find safety, security, strength as well as peace and protection. In the midst of turmoil there is actually no safer place to be than in the arms of Almighty God. He is our high Tower, Rock and Deliverer. All we need to do is call on Him. He will never fail us.
Thank you Lord for being my refuge. Regardless of what I am facing, I can run to you for protection. I know that I will not succumb to the storms of life, because You are always with me. I love you, Jesus. Amen!
