All around us there are people who are tired and weak and in need of encouragement. In fact, we've probably been in the same situation also. Many things can account for this state. Some may be physically and emotionally tired from the long hours at work and the never ending 'to do' list at home. For others it may be an overwhelming sense of hopelessness from trying to make ends meet, the despair of broken relationships, coping with sickness, caring for an elderly parent or struggling with feelings of inadequacy. Whatever the reason, as believers, we should do what we can to uplift and encourage those who are tired and weak.
To be oblivious to the pain that others are experiencing is a poor testament to our faith. We must open our eyes, be sensitive and respond with love and compassion. Sometimes, all that is necessary is a smile, a kind word and the affirmation that we are there to help, support, encourage and uplift. Our encouraging words along with our actions have the power to bring hope and strength and each day presents new opportunities to lift up those who have fallen under the weight of their burdens.
Thank you Lord for Your strength. Help me to be sensitive to the pain that others are experiencing and to do all that I can to encourage and strengthen them. I love you, Jesus. Amen!
