But if you are always biting and devouring one another, watch out! Beware of destroying one another.

All around us this destructive and unacceptable behaviour runs rampant. On a daily basis, we see elected leaders being judgemental and critical, spewing insults and abuse at each other, with no concern about the feelings of the other person. Sadly, this is also evident among children of God. They gossip, slander, criticize, judge and attack each other, yet profess to love God. Oftentimes this happens when we become self-righteous and think that we are better than others. Granted, there are times when we may need to speak up, but love must be our motivation and our reactions should be filled with gentleness and kindness.
We are God's children and have been transformed by Him. This means we treat people with respect, look for the good in them, overlook their faults and do everything that we can to live in peace and harmony. Fighting and discord can be destructive and too much valuable time is wasted when we tear each other down....time that can be used to to serve God and advance His Kingdom.
Thank you Lord for Your Holy Spirit. Help me to see the good in people, to refrain from slander and hurtful words and to treat everyone with respect. Let me not be critical and judgemental, but help me to use my words to lift others up and to create peace and harmony. I love you, Jesus. Amen!
