Follow the steps of good men instead and stay on the path of the righteous.

People follow others for many reasons. They may be famous, accomplished in one way or the other, rich or popular. As children of God, it is important to follow the steps of good men and women and strive to stay on the path of righteousness and goodness. Many of us are fortunate to have parents, grandparents or mentors whose lives demonstrate godly, honest and holy living. These are the people we need to follow and emulate.

Today, too many are following in the footsteps of people who are not living exemplary and wholesome lives and we need to be cautious and vigilant to avoid falling into a life that's displeasing to God. Young people are especially susceptible to this as they sometimes follow someone simply to be accepted and be part of the 'in crowd'. Young and old alike need to look carefully at someone's lifestyle before following in their footsteps. Seeking God and mediating on His Word gives us the insight and wisdom we need to determine who we should follow.

Thank you Lord for your guidance. Help me to follow the steps of godly people and to stay on the path of the righteous. Give me the wisdom to choose wisely, to never follow anyone who is on a destructive path. I love you, Jesus. Amen!
