Pure and genuine religion in the sight of God the Father means caring for orphans and widows in their distress.

We cannot claim to love God and be oblivious to the needs of those around us. We can speak eloquently about our belief and faith in God, but if it's not matched by our care and concern for the countless number of orphaned children, those who are widowed and less fortunate, then we're failing as true and worthy representatives of Almighty God. Many of us need to step outside of our 'self imposed bubble' and open our eyes to the needs of people in our churches, neighbourhoods and cities.
So many children have no one to care and provide for them and we can do our part by personally assisting or by giving to reputable organizations that provide for their needs. Our neighbourhood may have a number of widowed people who may be in need of physical or financial assistance or just someone to simply listen or be a shoulder to lean on. This is what God expects from us. Our love for Him must be expressed in tangible ways to those who are less fortunate and in need of assistance. We cannot turn a blind eye or leave it to the other person, As followers of Almighty God, we must do our part.
Thank you Lord for loving me. Open my eyes to the needs of those around me. Let me do all that I can to ease their burdens and may I never pass up an opportunity to be of service to someone. I love you, Jesus. Amen!
