And so blessing and cursing come pouring out of the same mouth. Surely, my brothers and sisters, this is not right!
James 3:10
NLT Bible
Our words reflect our true character, so it is truly important that we use them wisely. What comes out of our mouths is our choice and has a great capacity for good or evil. We can speak and build people up or tear them down, bless or curse them, criticize or praise them. It's important to remember that harsh, hurtful and destructive words spoken to someone have negative and long lasting effects.
As children of God, what we say must edify, praise, encourage and bless those with whom we come in contact. We need to think before we speak and if in doubt, be silent. If both blessing and cursing can come out of our mouths, why would we not choose to always use words that would bless someone.
Thank you Lord for making me in Your image. You know what I am going to say even before I say it. However, You have given me a choice. Help me to choose wisely....to think before I speak, to use my words to encourage, to bring hope and healing, to bless and above all, to reflect you. Let my words be acceptable to you. I love you, Jesus. Amen!
Be Blessed!
Lydia
