Bible Verse for January 20th.

Set a guard, O Lord over my mouth; Keep watch over the door of my lips.

Psalm 141:3
NKJ Bible

How many of us have said something to someone and immediately regretted it? We may have hurt someone's feelings, divulged a secret or slandered someone because there was no control over our mouths. Words spoken are like scattered feathers......they can never be recovered. So many relationships have been destroyed and reputations tarnished because hurtful and malicious words were hurled around. We have to be mindful of the power of our words and teach our children to do the same too. Many young people have taken their lives because cruel words were spoken or written about them and countless others suffer in silence and despondency because of the hurt and pain inflicted by harsh and unkind words.

What can we do to keep a check on the words we speak? We need to relinquish control of our thoughts and speech to God.......to think about the impact of our words before we say them and to keep our hearts and minds pure and holy. With God's Help, we can.

Thank you Lord for always being there for me. You know my thoughts and what I'm going to say before I open my mouth. Help me to watch the things I say and not use my words to hurt and harm those around me. I love you, Jesus. Amen!

Be Blessed!
Lydia
