"Don't be afraid, Mary," the angel told her, "for you have found favour with God! You will conceive and give birth to a son, and you will call him Jesus." He will be very great and will be called the Son of the Most High."
Luke 1:30-32
NLT Bible
Christmas Day is almost here and many of us are caught up in a whirlwind of activities. It's such a special time of the year.........the decorations are up, beautiful lights are everywhere, Christmas music fills the air and we should be happy and enjoying it all, but for many, that's not the case. Our time and energies are centred around shopping, baking, Christmas parties and other related events. There's nothing wrong with wanting to enjoy Christmas, but all too often, we are left frazzled and weary after all our activities and have no time to centre our thoughts and reflect on the true meaning of Christmas.
We need to embrace the message of Christmas, which is the birth of Jesus and build our traditions and celebrations around it. Our Saviour was born in a lowly manger and this is what we celebrate. It's also a time of love, peace and goodwill towards all men, but this seems to be lost amidst all the festivities. We should think of those who are in need, lonely or hurting and let our actions reflect the kindness and generosity that Christ would want us to show. Always keep in mind that JESUS is the reason for this beautiful season and strive to honour Him in everything we do.
Thank You Lord for sending Your Son Jesus. Lord, may my heart and mind be centred on what Christmas really means...the birth of Our Saviour, Jesus. Let me not be too busy to reflect and meditate on what Christmas really means. Jesus, You are the reason for the season and Christmas means nothing without you. I love you, Jesus. Amen!
Be Blessed!
