We can cover up wrongdoing and sin for only so long. Eventually it will come to light. God sees and hears it all and He knows what we've done. There is nothing we can hide from Him. When we sin, and we will, we can try to cover it up, hide it, pretend it never happened or we can do what needs to be done and acknowledge and confess it and ask God for forgiveness and then, avoid repeating it. Our wrong actions may impact and hurt loved ones and trusted friends and we may need to make things right with them, but we cannot conceal our sins. It gets us nowhere and ultimately sends us into a downward spiral.
Wise people confess their sins. When we keep on sinning and hiding our wrongs, we are driving a wedge between ourselves and God and we need to shake off our complacency, acknowledge our sins and seek forgiveness from a merciful and loving God. There may be consequences and repercussions to deal with afterwards, but the most important thing is confessing our transgressions, with humility and sincerity and then turning away from it. God loves us and we have the awesome privilege of being able to come directly to Him to atone for our wrongs. He is the Only One who is able to cleanse us from our sins and wipe our record clean. Today the choice is ours. We need to take ownership of our sinful actions and seek forgiveness. We cannot move ahead or prosper if we keep our sins covered up.
Thank you Lord for forgiving me. I've sinned and done something that's wrong and I've hurt others in the process. Today, I confess my sin and ask for Your forgiveness and with Your help, I purpose to never repeat that wrong. I love you, Jesus. Amen!
