We all yearn for peace and tranquility in our lives, but for many of us, it proves to be elusive. As followers of God, we have the promise of peace and safety from everything life throws at us, but we have an important role to play. We are required to firstly listen to God and then obey Him. It sounds simple enough, but many times we fail, because we want to deal with situations ourselves and this usually leaves us in despair and frustration. We are never exempt from trials and difficulties. They come to all of us, but peace is within our reach, if we listen to God and allow His truths to permeate our spirits.

This peace that we crave comes from God alone and is not found in self-help books, material things or friendships. We have to 'bury' ourselves in His Word and appropriate His promises of peace and protection. He has promised that the righteous will never be harmed. His Word is true and unchanging and guarantees us the peace, protection and joy that we so badly need. All it takes is coming to Him and surrendering our cares and burdens. God will never fail us.

Thank you Lord for Your peace and protection. I am in the midst of a storm, but I have peace and security because of you and nothing can rob me of this. When I feel overwhelmed, I come to you and You are always there with outstretched arms. I love you, Jesus. Amen!
