Bible Verse for November 26th.

My child, listen when your father corrects you. Don't neglect your mother's instruction. What you learn from them will crown you with grace and be a chain of honour around your neck.

Proverbs 1:8-9
NLT Bible

We have been entrusted with the awesome responsibility of nurturing and caring for our children. This means we have to correct, instruct and guide them. However, we cannot tell our children what to do and how to act and then live contrary to everything we're saying to them. We have to teach them to love, fear and obey God and our behaviour must be a testament to these words. This is what they will remember the most.

Children naturally model and mimic the behaviour of their parents. They are listening to us and watching our reactions to everyday situations. As parents, are we sarcastic and insulting to each other, do we yell and berate our children and are we unkind to others? Are we guilty of swearing at 'bad' drivers with our children in the car? We have to counsel our children about living moral and godly lives, but we must make sure that we are doing the same. They are looking at us and absorbing our lifestyle and while we cannot dismiss the necessity of verbal instruction, the way we live is what matters the most. What they learn from us will channel and determine their behaviour throughout life. We should desire to be godly and exemplary parents and grandparents, instructing, counselling, guiding and most of all, acting as God would want us to.

Thank you, Lord for my children. Help me to instruct and correct them as You would want me too, but most of all let my life be an example to them. Give me the strength and courage to live a holy and righteous life. I love you, Jesus. Amen!

Be Blessed!
Lydia
