If I could speak all the languages of earth and of angels, but didn't love others, I would be a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal.
1 Corinthians 13:1
NLT Bible
There's no value to the things we say or do, if love is not the motivating factor. We can be gifted and talented, speak many languages, but it means nothing if we do not have a deep love for others. Sometimes people can do 'good' things simply to be noticed or to elevate themselves and have others praise them or simply because they were just told to do it. When love is absent in our lives, we become just noisemakers, doing and saying things in a careless and meaningless manner.
When we love others, life takes on new meaning. It is no longer about our wants and needs, but about the needs and welfare of others. Love should be the catalyst for all we do. When love is present in our hearts, our perspective changes. Suddenly, we are no longer self absorbed and our focus shifts to those who are lonely, discouraged, in need, depressed, grieving or without hope. Our hearts are now filled with love and an overwhelming desire to lighten their load and ease their pain. Love causes us to see clearly and our motives for any good word or deed is now based on our love and affection for our fellow man. True love is never about self, but always about others.
Thank you Lord for your love for me. I pray that love will be the underlying factor in all I say and do. I recognize that all my accomplishments and talents are useless if I don't love others. Lord, help me to love as You love. I love you, Jesus. Amen!
Be blessed!
Lydia
