But Lot's wife looked back as she was following behind him, and she turned into a pillar of salt.
Genesis 19:26
NLT Bible
There are many people who wish that they could turn back the clock and relive or redo some of their past experiences. The truth is we simply cannot. As our verse illustrates, looking back can have devastating consequences. Our past may be filled with successes, failures, love, happiness, sadness, new births, death, good health or sickness and pain. We may have endured betrayals, unfaithfulness and suffered the brunt of verbal and physical abuse. Whatever happened, it's all in the past. Life keeps on moving forward and we have to do the same.
The mistakes have already been made. We need to learn from them, but leave them in the past. We've had many successes, but we can now look forward to accomplishing more. There can be no spiritual or emotional growth if we remain buried in the past. Moving forward allows us to realize our full potential. God has so much in store for us, but we have to forge ahead and look forward to each new stage of our lives. Our desire should be to enter into a deeper and more intimate relationship with God and embrace the future He has for us. Our past experiences make us wiser and stronger and give us the strength to move forward. Remember Lot's wife. Don't look back.
Thank you Lord for the plans You have for me. Help me to let go of the past and refrain from clinging to it. Let me learn from my mistakes, failures and successes and use every experience to make me a wiser and stronger person. I love you, Jesus. Amen!
Be Blessed!
Lydia
