Bible Verse for June 2nd.

But don't just listen to God's Word. You must do what it says. Otherwise you are fooling yourselves.

James 1:22

This verse reminds us that we must be doers of the Word. We cannot merely read or listen to it. What we read must be evident in every area of our lives. God's Word gives us detailed and specific guidelines for living in a manner that's pleasing to Almighty God and if we cannot make every effort to adhere to it, we are only fooling ourselves. We are all flawed and oftentimes, we will stumble and fail, but the key is recognizing our mistakes, repenting and getting back on track.

As His children, our lives must be examples and reflect what the Word says. We are to be kind, compassionate, caring, self controlled, patient, gentle, generous and loving. His Word also tells us that we are to show respect to our elders and elected officials, to refrain from gossiping and slandering, to have a servant's heart and above all to love God with our heart, soul and mind. There is so much more that we are told to do in His Word, but sadly enough, so many disregard God's laws and precepts, as is evident in their lifestyle. We need to be cognizant of the fact that our lives are being watched......by our children, friends, peers and colleagues and our actions, as believers, is the testimony that they are witnessing. We must be doers of the Word.

Thank you Lord for Your Word. Help me to not only read and listen to it, but to be obedient to Your laws and precepts, to let Your Word penetrate my heart and mind. Let it affect the way I speak and act. I love you, Jesus. Amen!
