Then Jesus said, " Let's go off by ourselves to a quiet place and rest awhile."

Jesus and his disciples were going from village to village teaching the people. He recognized that they were exhausted and needed to have some time apart to rejuvenate themselves, so they went off to a quiet place to rest. The same is true for us today. Rest is an essential part of our lives. It keeps us healthy, stress free, balanced, energized and refreshed. Many of us lead such busy lives......we have tiring jobs, then we go from one activity to the next and finally arrive home so tired and worn out that we just fall asleep, totally weary from the day, wake up tired the next morning and begin the frenzied cycle again.

We need to regularly find a place where we can just sit back, reflect, meditate on the goodness of God and allow ourselves to be restored and renewed physically, emotionally and spiritually. Without proper rest, it's actually impossible to enjoy and appreciate the things that we've worked so tirelessly for. We need to follow in the footsteps of Jesus and know when it's time to go off by ourselves to a quiet place and rest.

Thank You Jesus for the rest that I can find in You. Lord, help me not to get caught up in a frantic pace, going from one thing to the next, but may I always find time to rest and be quiet and let Your Holy Spirit renew and restore my heart, soul, body and mind. I love you, Jesus. Amen!
