There will be no mercy for those who have not shown mercy to others. But if you have been merciful, God will be merciful when He judges you.
James 2:13
NLT Bible
This verse tells us that in order to receive mercy, we must show mercy. When we do this, God Himself will be merciful when He judges us. Love and compassion has to be our guide when people 'slip up' and do things that are wrong. We can sometimes be quick to judge and condemn others when they commit offences, but we need to be like Jesus and show mercy and forgive instead. We are all flawed and make mistakes and have all been in need of mercy at some point in our lives. This does not mean that we condone wrong doing, but we must view those who have done wrong through eyes of love and kindness.
There will always be situations when we need to show mercy to others. It could involve members of our family, friends, peers or co workers and it may not always be easy, but we do it because God expects us to and if we don't, we cannot expect Him to be merciful to us when He judges us. We have to look at Jesus as our example. He is always merciful to us, even when we don't deserve it and as His children, we must do the same.
Thank you Lord for Your mercy. Your Word says that when I am merciful, I will receive mercy. Help me to show mercy to all who need it, to never judge or condemn them, regardless of how difficult it may be. Let me see anyone who needs mercy through eyes of love and compassion. I love you, Jesus. Amen!
Be Blessed!
