Bible Verse for May 2nd.

For God called you to do good, even if it means suffering just as Christ suffered for you. He is your example and you must follow in His footsteps.

1 Peter 2:21
NLT Bible

As believers, God has called us to do what is good and righteous and sometimes we may suffer because of it. Most of us are privileged to live in countries where we can openly express our faith in God without fear of being persecuted or ostracized. However, situations may arise in our everyday lives when we must stand up for our beliefs and this may sometimes result in us being subjected to suffering of some kind. We could be doing something good for someone, helping with a need or simply sharing the Good News of Jesus, but somehow we are made to endure some kind of suffering for it, be it physical, emotional or verbal.

We should not be disheartened or dejected by this, because Jesus himself suffered while doing good and this did not deter Him from fulfilling His destiny. He simply carried on doing good, ministering to everyone He met. We need to consider our temporary suffering a privilege because we are following in God's footsteps and our suffering will not last. God is using it to refine and purify us, to make us pliable and useful so that we can fulfil our God given destiny. We need to be open and willing to suffer just as Jesus did and to continue doing good, while standing up for truth and righteousness.

Thank you Lord for the example You have set before me. I would do anything for you, Lord Jesus, regardless of what I may have to endure. Help me to stand up for my beliefs, to keep on doing good, regardless of the consequences. Thank you Lord for Your abiding presence. I love you! Jesus. Amen!

Be Blessed!
Lydia
