O Lord, God of my salvation, I cry out to You by day. I come to You at night. Now hear my prayer; listen to my cry.
Psalm 88:1-2
NLT Bible
We have seen persistence pay off for many in various aspects of their lives, yet somehow, they are unable to see that it works in prayer as well. Many times, when we are in the midst of a crisis, we feel like giving up because we've prayed and cried out to God, but the situation remains unchanged....in fact, in the natural it seems hopeless. We feel overwhelmed and wonder if God is listening to us and hearing our cries. In the Gospel of Luke, Jesus tells of a widow who repeatedly pleaded her case to an unjust judge. He ignored her repeatedly, but then gave in to her requests because of her persistence. This is how we must persist in prayer. We cannot give up, but must come to God continually with humility, sincerity and expectation.
It's during these difficult times that we need to cling to God, sharing our innermost thoughts with Him and recognizing that He understands and feels our pain. God cares for us........He knows our names, our concerns, our desires and needs, but above all, He knows what's best for us and He will answer, but in His time. We just have to keep on praying, crying out to God and thanking Him for the answer which will come. It may not always be the answer we expected, but it will be the best one, because our Heavenly Father knows what we need. We just have to be patient and persistent in prayer and keep on trusting in the faithfulness of God.
Thank you Lord for hearing my prayer. Forgive me for the times I feel discouraged and neglect to pray. I know You care for me and understand what I am going through and that You will answer. Draw me close to you, Lord. I need Your strength. I love you, Jesus. Amen!
Be Blessed!
