Love prospers when a fault is forgiven, but dwelling on it separates close friends.
Proverbs 17:9
NLT Bible
No one is perfect. We are all flawed and make mistakes, and sometimes we cause others pain. This is the nature of any relationship. As believers, the key to maintaining a good and lasting relationship is forgiveness. It's something that we have to do over and over again if we want our friendship to survive. In any relationship, someone will inevitably do something that causes pain or distress, but love allows us to forgive and overlook the fault. This does not mean condoning a wrongdoing, but rather making a decision to forgive just as Christ did.
We must choose to focus on the good in people....our spouse, children, parents, friends and colleagues. It's easy to replay a transgression or a hurt over and over in our minds, until we have literally made a mountain out of a molehill. When this happens, we become so embittered and angry that we cannot think clearly or look beyond the fault and the relationship is destroyed. However, with God's help, we can overlook the mistakes or shortcomings in others, concentrate on all their good qualities and continue to enjoy blessed and healthy relationships.
Thank you Lord for the relationship I have with You. Help me to have good and healthy relationships, to focus on the good in people and not dwell on their shortcomings and faults. Let me readily forgive others just as You have forgiven me. I love you, Jesus. Amen!
Be Blessed!
Lydia
