Bible Verse for January 24th.

The Lord detests lying lips, but He delights in those who tell the truth.
Proverbs 12:22
NLT Bible

Throughout the Bible, we are admonished not to lie, yet many do. Some people seem to
think that lying is acceptable and they try to justify their reasons for telling untruths.
People lie for many reasons and they rationalize that everyone is doing it, so there must
be nothing wrong with it. However, God detests all lies and as His children, we need to
make every effort to speak the truth at all times.
Sometimes lying can have a ripple effect. It starts with one untruth and then another and
yet another, until eventually it's an avalanche of lies. People may lie about themselves,
pretending to be what they are not, lie to cover up a wrongdoing, lie to get out of trouble
or they may simply lie because they've told untruths for such a long time, that it has now
become easy and habitual.
Lying causes hurt and pain. It threatens and sometimes destroys relationships and scars
the character and reputation of everyone involved. When people make a habit of lying,
after awhile, no one takes them seriously as there's no validity to their words anymore.
Lying comes from an impure heart and we all need to continually come before God and
ask Him to create clean hearts and right spirits within us. God delights in those who tell
the truth.

Thank you Lord for Your mercy. God, keep my heart pure. Help me to be truthful and
honest at all times. Let me always remember that lying causes pain and heartache and
displeases You. My desire is to obey Your Word. I love you Jesus. Amen!

Be Blessed!
Lydia
