Bible Verse for January 21st.
Let someone else praise you, not your own mouth - a stranger, not your own lips.
Proverbs 27:2
NLT Bible
We all know people who are self centred, always talking about themselves and boasting
about their accomplishments. They use every opportunity to highlight how well they can
do something and exalt themselves by making others look inadequate and incompetent.
In any group setting, they somehow manage to steal the spotlight and keep the focus on
themselves.
As children of God, we have to guard against being boastful. Without being consciously
aware of it, we may sometimes praise ourselves by telling others about how well we have
done something and that it couldn't be done without us.
We are to go about our lives quietly and humbly, simply doing what we know to be right,
using our God given talents to the best of our ability to do an excellent job and leaving
the praise to others.
Our motives should be pure......that means we do everything because we love God and
need no reward for doing it. Self praise means absolutely nothing. It only shows up a
person as being proud and boastful.
If we praise ourselves, then there's really no need for anyone to compliment us. When we
do something and do it well, God is pleased and that's all that should matter to us. We
need to give God the glory and praise. It's all because of Him.
Thank you Lord for all that You have given me. Help me to do everything with a willing
heart and do it to the best of my ability. You deserve all the glory, honour and praise. Let
me never be proud or boastful. Keep me humble, Lord Jesus. Amen!
Be Blessed!
Lydia
