Therefore, as God's chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience.

As believers, we are God's chosen people, holy and dearly loved. This means we must live as He wants us to, clothing ourselves in Christlike qualities. This has to be evident in our dealings with everyone with whom we come in contact. In essence, we have taken off our old and sinful nature and now strive to be all that God wants us to be. The latter portion of this verse encapsulates everything that should be part of our lives. We must be clothed with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience.
We need to be compassionate and sensitive to the needs of others, caring about what they are going through, listening and empathizing without being critical or judgemental. We must also be kind to each other, with no thought of recognition or reward. God has also called us to put on the cloak of humility, treating all people with the respect and dignity they deserve. Gentleness is yet another quality that needs to be embraced. People often equate gentleness with weakness, but a gentle person possesses inner strength that's wrapped up in meekness and humility. Lastly, we need to be patient with all people and in all situations. These are all godly qualities that we need to embrace, and as we deepen our walk with God, we are transformed and become more like Him. We are His chosen people and we have to live like it.
Thank you Lord for choosing me and also for loving me. Help me to be filled with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, patience and above all, love. I love you, Jesus. Amen!
