Come close to God, and God will come close to you.

James 4:8  NLT Bible

The past year is behind us and a New Year is here! Many of us are busy making resolutions about our health, diet, lifestyle, finances, relationships and much more. However, the most important resolution we can make for this new year is to draw close to God and deepen our relationship with HIM.

Closeness and intimacy with HIM should be the desire of every child of God. If we truly love Him, we should have a deep and ongoing hunger for intimacy with Him. How can we get close to God? In theory, it’s simple, but in reality, it requires perseverance and discipline. We NEED to spend time in prayer, in worship, in meditating on HIS Word and trying daily to live a life that’s pleasing to Him.

GOD longs for us to draw near to HIM, so that He can draw near to us.

Thank you, Lord, for this New Year! My desire is to be close to You. Help me Lord to be faithful in spending time in Your Presence and not be caught up in all the distractions around me. Let Your Word speak to me Lord and help me to live a life that’s pleasing to You. I love you, Jesus. Amen!

Be Blessed!

Revelation 21:5-7 NLT

5. And the one sitting on the throne said, “Look, I am making everything new!” And then He said to me, “Write this down, for what I tell you is trustworthy and true.”

6. And He also said, “It is finished! I am the Alpha and the Omega—the Beginning and the End. To all who are thirsty I will give freely from the springs of the water of life.

7. All who are victorious will inherit all these blessings, and I will be their God, and they will be my children.

Do not remember the former things, nor consider the things of old.
Behold, I will do a new thing. Now it shall spring forth;
Shall you not know it? I will even make a road in the wilderness and rivers in the desert.

Isaiah 43:18-19 NKJV

Lord Jesus, I thank You for bringing me to this new year! Let the things that I learned during the pass year serve as guidance and instructions, shaping my actions and decisions for greater achievements this year. I look to You for wisdom and direction. I love you, Jesus. Amen!

… I focus on this one thing: Forgetting the past and looking forward to what lies ahead.

Philippians 3:13 NLT Bible

As a new year dawns upon us, we need to remember that the past year is gone and there's no need to dwell on it. For some of us, it may have been a year filled with sickness, pain, financial pressures and many other hardships. However, we need to leave them all in the past. We can build on the good things, learn from our mistakes and failures and with help and strength from God embrace and look forward to what lies ahead.

My wish is that this will be a year filled with peace, joy, good health and happiness for all and that we would also enter into a deeper and richer relationship with Him.

Thank you, Lord, for the opportunity to embrace another year. Help me to not dwell n the past, but to look forward to what lies ahead for me. May I honour and glorify you in all I say and do. I love you Jesus. Amen!

Be Blessed!

The faithful love of the LORD never ends! His mercies never cease.

Great is His faithfulness; His mercies begin afresh each morning.

I say to myself, “The LORD is my inheritance; therefore, I will hope in Him!”

Lamentations 3:22-24 NLT

Lord Jesus! I quietly meditate in Your presence. Lord, I thank You, that on this last day of the year, I am grateful to have successfully overcome the many challenges that came my way. Each difficulty has been met with strength and my faith in You. You have shown me Your mercy! I love you, Jesus. Amen!

Don't let the sun go down while you are still angry, for anger gives a foothold to the devil.

Ephesians 4:26 NLT Bible

We all get angry at times, but the key is to resolve it quickly and not allow it to fester. There are many reasons why we may become angry, and sometimes it's justified, but it's how we respond to the situation that really matters. We probably know of people who've remained angry for days, not speaking to the person who supposedly upset them. This is certainly not pleasing to God and only ends up hurting everyone involved. This verse clearly tells us that we are not to let the day end without working out our differences in a loving and respectful manner.

Anger hurts us physically, emotionally and spiritually. We can't function properly or worship God because our hearts are filled with rage and hatred. Some people lose all self control when angry and become abusive and violent and we all know of instances when this resulted in tragedy. The reasons for becoming angry are varied......stress, jealousy, 'deep rooted' problems, painful memories or sometimes just having a difficult day at work.

We need to ask God for wisdom to deal with situations in a calm and rational manner, practice self control, think before speaking, walk away from confrontation and make amends to the ones we've hurt as quickly as possible.  Recognize that we will not always agree, but we can disagree in an agreeable and loving manner. For many, learning to control anger is ongoing, but we can be victorious as we seek help from God and make a concerted effort to not allow it to control our behaviour and treatment of others.

Thank you, Lord, for loving me just as I am, with all my flaws and shortcomings. Help me Lord to control my anger and to treat people with the respect and kindness they deserve. I can't do it without You. I surrender all to You! I love you, Jesus. Amen!

Be Blessed!

Matthew 2:1-6 NKJV

1. Jesus was born in Bethlehem in Judea, during the reign of King Herod. About that time some wise men from eastern lands arrived in Jerusalem, asking,

2.“Where is the newborn king of the Jews? We saw his star as it rose, and we have come to worship him.”

3. King Herod was deeply disturbed when he heard this, as was everyone in Jerusalem.

4. He called a meeting of the leading priests and teachers of religious law and asked, “Where is the Messiah supposed to be born?”

5. “In Bethlehem in Judea,” they said, “for this is what the prophet wrote:

6. ‘And you, O Bethlehem in the land of Judah, are not least among the ruling cities of Judah, for a ruler will come from you who will be the shepherd for my people Israel.”

“So, Joseph also went up from the town of Nazareth in Galilee to Judea, to Bethlehem the town of David, because he belonged to the house and line of David.

He went there to register with Mary, who was pledged to be married to him and was expecting a child.  While they were there, the time came for the baby to be born, and she gave birth to her firstborn, a son. She wrapped him in cloths and placed him in a manger, because there was no room for them in the inn. And there were shepherds living out in the fields nearby, keeping watch over their flocks at night.

An angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified.  But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid. I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people. Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is Christ the Lord.

This will be a sign to you: You will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger.”

Suddenly a great company of the heavenly host appeared with the angel, praising God and saying, “Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace to men on whom his favor rests.”

When the angels had left them and gone into heaven, the shepherds said to one another, “Let’s go to Bethlehem and see this thing that has happened, which the Lord has told us about.”

So, they hurried off and found Mary and Joseph, and the baby, who was lying in the manger.

When they had seen him, they spread the word concerning what had been told them about this child, and all who heard it were amazed at what the shepherds said to them.

Luke 2:4-18  NIV Bible

Thank you, Lord, for sending Your Son Jesus! I pray that in the midst of all the Christmas preparations and activities; I will always be mindful that the true meaning of the season is the birth of my Saviour! I love you, Jesus. Amen!

Be Blessed!

Philippians 2:1-4 NKJV

1. Therefore, if there is any consolation in Christ, if any comfort of love, if any fellowship of the Spirit, if any affection and mercy.

2. Fulfill my joy by being like-minded, having the same love, being of one accord of one mind.

3. Let nothing be done through selfish ambition or conceit, but in lowliness of mind let each esteem others better than himself.

4. Let each of you look out not only for his own interests, but also for the interests of others.
