Work with enthusiasm, as though you were working for the Lord rather than for people.

We've all seen people at work with disgruntled expressions on their faces, relaying the fact that they really dislike what they're doing and by the same token, witnessed others working with zeal and joy. As children of God, we have a duty to work with enthusiasm, as if we're doing it all for God and not for the people around us. It doesn't matter what the task is, it could be sweeping floors, picking up trash, working in an office, taking care of the sick or doing laundry at home. 

Whatever the task, we need to do it with a spirit of excellence. Not every job is exciting. Some can be dull and mundane, but when we have the right attitude, it takes on new meaning. God is watching us. Our employers, co-workers, friends and even strangers are also looking and our attitude speaks volumes. When our mindset is one of doing everything for God, everything changes and we are able to work with enthusiasm.

Thank you, Lord, for the ability to work. Help me to work with zeal and enthusiasm, to do all things well, regardless of the task. Let my attitude be pleasing to you. I love you, Jesus. Amen!
