Walk with the wise and become wise; associate with fools and get in trouble.

Proverbs 13:20 NLT Bible

There's no denying that we are influenced by the people we associate with. We either wind up becoming like them or they change based on our values and behaviour. We have seen many instances of people getting into unnecessary trouble because they kept bad company. 1 Corinthians 15:33 tells us not to be misled, for bad company corrupts good character. We should have guidelines to follow when choosing our friends. It's good to have an inner circle of friends who can counsel, support and pray for us. Even Jesus had an inner circle in Peter, James and John. 

It's important to surround ourselves with positive people who respect and believe in us, who will also hold us accountable for our actions, help us achieve our goals, be happy when we succeed and empathize with us when we are hurting. Sometimes, to maintain our integrity and our walk with God, we may need to end some relationships with 'friends' who may be trying to pull us down. We should always seek God's help in cultivating good and wholesome friendships.

Thank You Lord for Your love and guidance. Help me to build friendships with people who will have a positive influence on my life and love and respect me. God, give me courage to always stand up for my beliefs and not let anyone lead me astray. I love You Jesus. Amen!
